BBC News reporter pushed by schoolboy as mum encourages him

A boy has been filmed shoving a BBC reporter during a live broadcast. The journalist was targeted by a schoolboy on Wednesday evening.

Lucinda Adam was reporting from Brighton. She was pushed by a boy as her mother allegedly laughed across the street.

The mother was also accused of encouraging him. Lucinda said: “Live report from Brighton tonight when a young boy of about eight started teasingly waving his arms behind me.

“We all went through it but he pushed me hard in the back before running away. The saddest thing is his mum was across the road cheering him on and you can hear him scream with laughter.

“It’s not funny, it’s an assault while someone is doing their job. Where did the kindness go?” Sussex Police confirmed: “Police received a third party report of an assault in Queens Road, Brighton on Tuesday evening (March 1).

“Contact has been made with the victim and inquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police online or call 101 quoting serial number 1433 of 01/03.”

Lucinda – as she offered an update on social media – thanked viewers for their support after the ordeal on live television. She added: “I’m fine thank you, just a little shaken, quite angry and a little sad.”
