The Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) and multi-channel OTT service Channelbox have teamed up to launch a 24/7 Ukrainian news service on UK television platform Freeview.

The channel is also available on mobile via Channelbox’s iOS and Android apps.

The news and information channel is jointly produced by Ukrainian media companies 1+1 International, Rada, Ukraine 24, Inter+, ICTV, UATV and Suspilne.

It aims to provide accurate and unbiased information from across Ukraine, as well as a link to their home country for the approximately four million Ukrainian citizens who fled the country as the war spread.

“The Association for International Broadcasting has been working since the start of the invasion to bring the Ukrainian news channel to UK platforms,” said AIB chief executive Simon Spanswick. “We wanted to make a contribution to support Ukraine and its citizens. Bringing Ukraina 24 to viewers in the UK, whether they are expats or refugees, helps maintain connections through the toughest times in their lives. We are delighted that Channelbox is the first UK platform to make the channel available on a mainstream UK TV platform.

Tanya Kronfli, Head of Content and Business Development at Channelbox, added, “We are honored to be part of this project and to be able to help Ukrainians access information from home. This is a truly lifesaving broadcast and demonstrates how modern technologies like connected TVs are able to support people in times of crisis.
