Leake and Watt make All-RMAC teams

COLORADO SPRINGS — March 30, 2022 — The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released its annual Wrestling All-RMAC awards on Wednesday, in an announcement on RMACSports.org. Two male wrestlers from Chadron State College were selected to the All-RMAC Second Team, by a vote of the league’s eight chief male wrestling coaches.

Ethan Leaked, the Eagles national qualifier at 141 pounds, was one of 11 from the conference named to the second team, due to a tie in the 125-pound weight class. The second from Clovis, Calif., finished regional second at the NCAA Super Region VI Championships in Grand Junction, Colorado. Leake reached the final by winning decisions against two nationally ranked opponents who were seeded No. 1 and No. 4 in the encounter. He then fell to a third nationally ranked opponent in the final.

Mason Watt, a junior from Broomfield, Colorado, entered the region 8-2 and was 5-1 in the RMAC, having knocked out two ranked opponents during the season and closing in on a third. He went 3-2 to finish fifth at Grand Junction, finishing a round short of a national qualifying shot. Watt finished the year ranked No. 11 by IntermatWrestle.com. Watt was also named to the second team.

The RMAC Wrestler of the Year was awarded to Adams State University’s Noah Hermosillo. The Freshman of the Year award went to Dawson Collins from Colorado Mesa University. ASU’s Jasom Ramstetter was awarded Coach of the Year.
