SIDNEY, Neb. –A longtime Sidney coach was honored by the Raiders’ track and field program this week.
The Sidney track team named their home meet after coach John Ganser, who taught and coached at the school for 41 years.
Ganser coached track and field, football and wrestling for the Raiders.
Ganser said he remembers the talented athletes who did well, and he will never forget the athletes who tried hard for themselves and for the team, who failed to perform. render to State.
Ganser attended the John Ganser Invitational Track Meet on Saturday.
Ganser said it was very encouraging for him to see just how much excitement is currently going on. He said he congratulated everyone involved.
“There’s a lot of credit to the school, the coaches and the kids,” Ganser said.
Ganser wishes the athletes the best, saying both the men’s and women’s teams look good for Sidney this year.
Ganser said he had been blessed with the opportunity to coach for 41 years and had found it very rewarding.
“Work hard, have fun, compete and win,” Ganser said.
