WMC-TV, has an immediate opening for a morning, weekend Anchor/Reporter. The best candidate will be a high-level dynamic storyteller with an investigative spirit.

This is a high-level position that requires initiative, leadership and impact.

You must work with a sense of immediacy, independently and as part of a team.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop sources within the community for unique insights and reports on timely, important, and impactful issues. The ideal candidate will also have a background in investigative and data-driven journalism.
  • Produce and broadcast daily reports, as well as occasional coverage of special events. Our presenters must write and contribute daily to newscasts and digital platforms.
  • Understand our DMA, key target audiences and where they live.
  • Strong research skills, ability to use critical thinking skills to dig in and go “beyond the press release” and/or confirm incoming information via email or social media.

If you’re waiting for the news to reach you, this isn’t the job for you. You are expected to find the compelling stories behind the press releases. There is no place in this newsroom for bad attitudes or people who rely on the assignment desk for story ideas.


  • Minimum of two years of press room experience preferred. College diploma in journalism or related field.
  • Must have the desire to win and the ability to reflect on your work and apply feedback.
  • A strong candidate will have an established and responsible presence on digital platforms, including the station’s website, social media and OTT.
  • Understanding of and respect for AP style (for digital platforms) and broadcast writing (for television).
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), proven judgment on news, ethics and integrity.
  • Strong work ethic, organizational and leadership skills. Must be able to work quickly, meet deadlines, multi-task and maintain composure, especially when breaking news.
  • Ability to work long hours/overtime, weekends and nights as needed for breaking news and specialized coverage.
  • Experienced in filming and editing.

WMC-TV in Memphis, Tennessee is seeking an experienced investigative reporter/MMJ to join our award-winning press team.

The successful candidate will research, develop, write and present long and short-term investigative reporting, as well as contribute to research and analysis of major news events.

The journalist will work with the special projects team as well as station management and the legal department to conceptualize and produce content. Experience in computer-assisted report research and database analysis is a plus.

Your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:

– Research, develop, write and produce groundbreaking investigative reporting

– Generate long and short term investigative news projects

– Perform computer-assisted report research and database analysis

– Contribute to research and analysis of major news events

– Provide investigative content across all WMC live and digital platforms

– Develop and maintain sources that will generate exclusive reports

– Conduct hidden camera and surveillance operations

– Work with station management and the corporate legal department to conceptualize and produce content


– Minimum of two years of experience as an investigative reporter or four years as a general assignment reporter with a demonstrated track record of producing investigative stories

– Understanding of computer-assisted reporting and the use of database and spreadsheet programs

– Experience working with hidden cameras

– Willingness to work long hours and overtime

Your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:

– Responsible for the content and overall production of local TV news

– Oversee all broadcast details while working closely with all members of the news team

– Stack recap and manage live stream from control room

– Contribute to story ideas for the newscast and work closely with journalists to implement these ideas

– BS/BA in Journalism/Communication or equivalent experience
