FAIRBURY, NE — Two city officials from southeast Nebraska officially took their places Tuesday night.

Fairbury was sworn in as its new city administrator and assistant city attorney at its last meeting. Jacob Matthews, who comes to Fairbury from Denver, is the city’s newest city administrator. He succeeds Robert Messbarger, whose last official day is Friday July 22.

Messbarger took another job in a town closer to his family. The city council approved Matthew’s contract at a meeting earlier this month.

Former Fairbury City Attorney David Bargen resigned in June after being named a judge in southeast Nebraska.
