FOX News producer warned network to stop airing hosts for spewing lies about election conspiracy

It’s been almost two years since Joe Biden decisively defeated Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election. And all the while, Trump has stubbornly insisted that he was the real winner and that the election was “rigged” and “Fly” from him. Never mind that he couldn’t provide a shred of evidence to back up his claims and lost dozens of lawsuits in a futile, delusional effort to cling to power.

Trump’s belligerent dishonesty has had many deleterious effects on the nation. Most notably, it led directly to a murderous assault on Congress by its cult supporters who were attempting to stage a violent coup and obstruct the peaceful transfer of power. His relentless lies about the election helped undermine faith in democracy and foment fear and future violence by glassy-eyed StormTrumpers. It also led to a billion-dollar lawsuit against its Department of Disinformation – aka Fox News – for spreading conspiracy theories about voter fraud.

The case of one of the plaintiffs against Fox News, Dominion Voting Systems, is progressing steadily. He has forced depositions Fox News hosts such as Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Maria Bartiromo, Lou Dobbs and Jeanine Pirro. And in a new report, it has been revealed that the network was well aware that its hosts were broadcasting false claims that Dominion’s voting machines were designed to suppress Trump’s votes and/or transfer them to Biden. NPR reports this…
An angsty Fox News news producer’s November 2020 email to co-workers sent a flare-up amid a firefight of misrepresentations. Producer warned: Fox can’t let host Jeanine Pirro back on the air, pulling conspiracy theories from the dark corners of the web to justify then-President Donald Trump’s lies that the election was stolen from him.”
Fox News not only let Pirro return to the airwaves, they promoted her to co-host of Fox’s “The five,” a top-notch daily program. They also continued to allow Hannity, Carlson, Bartiromo and many others to spread Trump’s lies. NPR went on to say that…
“Dominion attorneys obtained emails, text messages, WhatsApp messages and more, documenting how network executives and reporters behaved and acted behind the scenes, as well as determining what ‘they actually knew about the claims, according to three people familiar with the litigation.Witnesses were asked about the extent to which the Murdochs and Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott were involved in making editorial decisions or kept in the loop .”
When NPR asked Fox News for comment, they only said they “covered the most newsworthy story of this period – the President of the United States alleging election fraud. Of course, this is also a lie. The Fox hosts weren’t just reporting what Trump said. They explicitly alleged that the election was riddled with fraud and that Dominion was among those responsible.
Defamation suits rely on the plaintiff’s ability to show that the defendant knew, or should have known, that what he said was untrue and that he acted maliciously. The new evidence does a pretty good job of establishing that. Not that it’s necessary. Fox News had been pushing the voter fraud lies despite the fact that even members of Trump’s own administration had validated the election as legitimate.
They included FBI Director Christopher Wray; Benjamin Hovland, United States Election Assistance Commission; Department of Homeland Security Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Director Chris Krebs; and even Attorney General Bill Barr. Barr went so far as to tell ABC News correspondent Jonathan Karl (in his recent book “Treason”) this “I suspected from the start that there was nothing there. It was bullshit.”

With all the legal tribulations hanging over Trump and his media cronies, it’s no surprise that he’s becoming increasingly unhinged. And much of this madness manifests itself in his absurd apologies for stealing and hoarding classified documents in his Mar-a-Lago bunker. Expect Trump to sink deeper into this self-created abyss of despair as the prospect of him being held accountable draws nearer.
