Matt Hunter leaves Spectrum News 1 Capital Region. The reporter was with the station falmost 13 years oldmaking him a veteran of the 24-hour news station launched in the area in October 2002 as Capital News 9.
He is the twelfth local broadcast personality to leave his job this year and the second from Spectrum News. In March, Jesse MacWilliam announced he was heading to Spectrum’s sister station in Syracuse.
Hunter, who is originally from the area, will remain in the area. He’s not moving to another news station or staying in the industry, he says. Instead, he is saying goodbye to journalism like many of his local contemporaries have over the past two years. This story will be updated once Hunter has permission to share what follows.
Hunter’s last day at the station is later this month.
